About the Role:

HeiTech Services is seeking applicants for a Print Production Operator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Work will be performed in Silver Spring, MD.

Security Clearance: Must possess (or be able to obtain) a federal public trust clearance.

In this role, you will:

Ensure that all print orders are set up properly and run correctly based on the specification sheet submitted by the client and provide basic maintenance to the high-speed copiers and multifunctional devices (MFD).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review, prioritize, and submit print requests from desktop or server according to complexity and urgency.
  • Ensure that the Duplicating Service Request (DSR) is accurately completed in detail prior to production.
  • Perform quality checks on print jobs to ensure outputs are accurate in accordance with the DSR.
  • Complete offline finishing, including tape binding, shrink wrapping, cutting, padding, coil binding, stapling, drilling, folding, etc.
  • Record inventory usage and meter clicks immediately after each job is produced.
  • Deliver print jobs within the established timeframes.
  • Assist with daily opening and closing of the NOAA Duplicating Plant (DP) and Supply Room.
  • Maintain reproduction equipment by solving paper jams, placing service calls, and conducting routine cleaning.
  • Monitor inventory of print supplies, stock paper, and toners for high-speed copiers and MFDs.
  • Ensure DP and Supply Room areas are clean and professional.
  • Scan documents.
  • Learn new features and functionalities of print equipment and software as new technology is introduced.
  • May perform some mailroom responsibilities and other duties as assigned.


Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Experience using professional high-speed duplicating equipment, especially in high-volume environments.
  • Capable of quickly learning and using printing software programs, service help desk programs, and duplicating machine integration.
  • Possess strict attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage client and team interactions, work well with others and professionally communicate to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to accurately transcribe machine meter data from machine to printing logs.
  • Physical requirements for the position include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, reaching, bending/stooping, and stacking print output into boxes or containers.
  • Perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Must pass a proficiency test on-site to demonstrate the above skills.
  • Will be required to learn EFI – Fiery Command Workstation to perform duties.


Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or formal equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience running professional print equipment, which must include high-speed production digital color printers.
  • Working knowledge preferred in:
    • Google Suite
    • Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
    • Adobe Pro
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
